Donald Trump on Saturday sharply criticized Iran, calling it the “loser of the Middle East” and warning of a potential major strike, as tensions continued to rise following the country’s recent conflict with Israel and the United States.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran had apologized to neighboring countries after launching attacks during the war and said Tehran had pledged not to target them again. “Iran, which is being beat to hell, has apologized and surrendered to its Middle East neighbors, and promised that it will not shoot at them anymore. This promise was only made because of the relentless U.S. and Israeli attack,” Trump wrote.
He further alleged that Iran had ambitions to dominate the region, adding that the country is no longer the “bully of the Middle East” but instead “the loser of the Middle East,” a position he said it would hold “for many decades unless it surrenders or collapses.”
Demand for “Unconditional Surrender”
On Friday, Trump stated that the only acceptable way to end hostilities would be Iran’s “unconditional surrender.” He said that if Tehran complied and established new leadership, the United States and its allies would help rebuild the Iranian economy.
According to Trump, such a move could bring Iran “back from the brink of destruction” and potentially make it “economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.”
Iran Responds
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed regional leaders and apologized for strikes launched during the conflict. He said an interim leadership council had agreed that Iran would not attack neighboring countries unless those countries initiated attacks against Iran.
However, Pezeshkian emphasized that Tehran would not surrender.
Casualties and Regional Impact
The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties. Officials reported at least 1,230 deaths in Iran, over 200 in Lebanon, and 11 in Israel, along with the deaths of six U.S. troops.
Security Alert in Dubai
In Dubai, multiple explosions were heard on Saturday morning, prompting authorities to activate air defense systems. At Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport for international travel passengers awaiting flights were directed into underground train tunnels as a precaution following the security alert.
The situation remains volatile as regional tensions continue to escalate.
