In recent days, a deeply unsettling question is echoing across the nation: Is the Prime Minister compromised?
While global leaders are actively debating these severe violations of international law, the Indian Prime Minister has not offered a single official statement. There has not been even a basic tweet of condolence for the assassination of sitting head of state.

This highly unusual silence from the Indian government has led opposition leaders and strategic experts to ask a chilling question: is the PM bowing to extreme pressure from the United States?
Ignoring a Historic Ally and Global Outrage
This silence is questionable because Iran has been a vital, loyal partner for India for decades. When India faced severe diplomatic pressure over Kashmir at the UN in 1994, it was Iran who stepped in to help block a resolution against India. When India struggled with foreign reserves, Iran stood by us, agreeing to trade oil directly in Indian Rupees to keep our economy moving. Iran also allowed India to build the highly strategic Chabahar Port on its territory, a powerful symbol of our international ties.
Today, while the Indian leadership stays quiet, the rest of the world is speaking out. Global leaders have strongly condemned the assassination, which blatantly violated international law. Russian President Vladimir Putin slammed the killing as a “cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.” Similarly, China’s Foreign Ministry called it a “grave violation of Iran’s sovereignty” and an unacceptable “blatant killing of a sovereign leader.”
Yet, despite this massive global outrage, the Indian Prime Minister has not offered a single official statement not even a basic tweet of condolence for a sitting head of state.
Guests of India died in the Attack
The silence becomes even more alarming when looking at the devastating event that just occurred in the Indian Ocean. The Iranian warship IRIS Dena recently came to India as an invited guest to participate in the Indian Navy’s MILAN-2026 exercises.
On March 4, shortly after leaving Indian waters on its way home, the vessel was blown apart by an American Mark 48 torpedo near Sri Lanka. Official reports confirm that 87 Iranian sailors guests who had just left our shores were killed in the attack. By failing to condemn this unprovoked strike on a departing guest, the government signals that it is powerless in its own neighborhood if America is the one pulling the trigger.
A Forgotten History of Courage
India has a proud history of standing up to American pressure and we did not become a global power by bowing to Washington.
During the 1971 war, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi fiercely stood her ground against US military intimidation when President Nixon sent a heavily armed naval fleet to threaten India. Similarly, Atal Bihari Vajpayee absorbed massive US economic sanctions after the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear tests, forcing the world to accept India as a nuclear power rather than bowing to American pressure.
Vajpayee was historically fearless in his foreign policy; in a famous 1977 speech, he openly condemned Israel, demanding they vacate occupied Arab and Palestinian lands. Even Even Dr. Manmohan Singh, despite building a deep strategic partnership with America, stood in Washington D.C. in 2005 and boldly called the US-led invasion of Iraq a “mistake”. Past leaders consistently chose national pride over American approval. What has changed today?
The Shadow of the Epstein Files
Why is a leadership that boasts of a “strong foreign policy” suddenly mute? The political opposition alleges international blackmail.
In early 2026, the US released the unredacted “Epstein Files,” which reportedly contained references to the Indian leadership. Opposition leaders claim Washington is using these deeply embarrassing files to force India into submission on trade and foreign policy. During a Rajya Sabha session, AAP MP Sanjay Singh aggressively questioned this, asking: “What is there in the Epstein files… Is this the reason why he is bowing before Trump?” He alleged the recent US-India trade deal was rushed through under this very threat.
Conclusion
The total refusal to take a stand makes the public wonder: is the Prime Minister protecting his own political survival at the cost of the nation’s sovereign voice? India has always been a country that honors its allies, protects its guests, and stands up to global bullies. Today, that strong voice is missing, and the silence is deafening.
